This plant, commonly called Coneflower, is only present on the Eastern part of North America. It blooms from early to late summer and some species are used in herbal medicine. The flowers are purple, sometimes yellow or white, and “cone shaped”, with the petals pointing downward when they open.

Just across the street from where I live there is a gorgeous bush of echinacea. A beautiful subject easily within my reach. I particularly enjoyed photographing the bees on the flowers.
