A nutcracker, at Christmas time, is more than a mechanical device to crack nuts open. These little wooden carvings in the form of soldiers, kings or knights evoke memories of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite and the beautiful ballet that was created for it, composed back in 1891.
