This is a nice, friendly city in the heart of French West Africa. With about 1.5 million inhabitants, it is country’s largest city and its administrative, economic and cultural center. Every other year it is the home of FESPACO, Africa’s largest film festival.

These pictures were taken in one of the main avenues of Ouagadougou, between the center and the headquarters of FESPACO. Some of the majestic trees lining the side of the avenue were about to die. Local wood carvers were called in, to make sculptures out of them. Impressive!
